About i2o
Welcome to the i2o web log! My name is Jason Kellie, and idea2opportunity.com serves primarily as a public accountability for my addiction to adventures in capitalism. Am I some kind of business guru? Nope. Surely I’ve had some kind of formal schooling or training on business and the proper methodology of entrepreneurialism? Nuh-uh. Ok so it has to be that my parents are these great leaders… captains of industry… CEO’s, CFO’s, or COO’s right? No, that’s a big negatory on that one also. My family’s closest brush to C’s, E’s and O’s would probably be Cheerio’s for breakfast.
So what exactly qualifies me as a writer for a blog about turning ideas to opportunity? Well, I’m the only bloke stupid enough to publicly expose my journey of minor successes and grand failures in an ongoing effort to make a living I’d imagine. This is quite literally the public web log of a man who at the ripe age of 25 decided I’d had enough of some arbitrary authoritative figure determining the ongoing monetary value for two weeks of my life.
I’m 36 now. I’ve had the pleasure of starting too many companies and ventures to take the time and count. Some succeeded… most failed. Only twice in those 11 years did I find the occasion to swallow my pride and fall back in line, going back to work for “the man”. The first incident was such a horrid experience it only served as a thorny reminder I wasn’t cut out to take orders from someone who handed out meaningless and time wasting tasks simply because he was the guy with the title. The second however was a cultivation of a hopefully long lasting relationship with several mentors whom I have learned and continue to learn countless lessons not only in business but in life. One in particular (I won’t name) without whom I wouldn’t have a dime to my name I’m sure… he knows who he is… and hopefully I tell him often enough how grateful I am.
My hope here is to engage anyone who is on a similar adventure. I’d like to help those of you out there doing it… fighting the fight. I’d like to use this platform as a method of bringing together some sort of written philosophy by identifying patterns for success and failure. I’m quite frequently accused of being over analytical to the point of reading stereo instruction manuals for a bit of light entertainment.
So that’s it. About i2o. My goals:
1) Chronicle any and all adventures in capitalism anyone would like to share. Successes and failures alike. Learning and moving forward.
2) Help anyone willing to embark on an adventure with their ideas, opinions, experiences, and advice.
3) Have some fun with “Observations” or “Kewl Gadgets” cuz those are things I enjoy.
